These may seem like strange photos for a golden retriever site, but this is really how it all got started. In the late 1970's my first show dog was a black and silver afghan, Mahadi's Holli Ho Bree CDX. Quite unintentionally I caught the competitive obedience bug and found I had chosen quite a challenging dog with which to work.
It seemed that all my close obedience buddies were working golden retrievers, and after one "interesting" day in Open B competition, my mentor to be in Goldens, Ginger Gotcher, handed me my first golden retriever, an eight week old puppy, Ginge Pekay's Casino Royale CD WC. Thirty-five years later I am still breeding dogs coming down through this foundation bitch and I can't imagine "being owned" by any other breed.
For the first fifteen years I did my limited breeding under Ginger's kennel name of Ginge and then took on my own kennel name of Lyric upon Ginger's death. In 2002 I relocated from Austin, TX to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
I am a hobby breeder whose dogs are my house companions. I have a strong commitment to breeding wonderful healthy happy and versatile dogs, and I am proud to have produced dogs that have been titled in conformation, field, obedience, agility, and pet therapy. My goal is to produce puppies of sound temperament, good health, and proper structure.
All the dogs in the small breeding program have hip clearances, elbow clearances, heart clearances by a board certified cardiologist and annual eye exams by a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist. I am a member in good standing in the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club, Golden Retriever Club of America, Asheville Kennel Club, and Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue.
Thanks for visiting with us, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
